There is a strong linkage between society and education. This is to the extent that it is often said that society's development rate is determined by the quality of education offered in that society. On the obverse, society is always in a state of flux and this affects education in terms of context and content. Hence, the linkage between them is in a state of endless change and transformation. Observers have, however, noted that the rate and speed of flux in the relationship between society and education is the swiftest level ever known to man. This is quite revolutionary in that one change hardly finished occurring before another beckons. This Kuhnian phenomenon dictates the development in every facet of society and education, ranging from technology to governance, culture, and even the philosophy of teaching and learning. Thus, yesterday’s breakthroughs and ways of doing things become obsolete and trite almost at the speed of light. The need to capture the foregoing situation in terms of its swiftness and the various dimensions has become an academic allure. This is to the extent that scholars, researchers and critical observers require sound academic platforms to discuss and document the developments in society and education. This gap constitutes the mandate of the Journal of Contemporary Society and Education. This is the reason the journal sets its core aim as being a platform for critical and intellectual engagement trends and development in the linkage between society and education in contemporary times. Thus, since its inception, the JSCE has offered itself as a veritable platform for well-researched and robust publications in its areas of mandate. This latest issue continues the tradition of academic excellence the journal has set for itself with the rigorous discourse of issues and themes such as capitalism, xenophobia, culture, religion, philosophy, violence, child development, gender and economic development, among others. The new issue offers a nuanced discourse on these themes and how they shape society and education and vice versa.
