Abstract

This report elaborates on the relationship between media and sex. It focuses on how different types of media, such as films, music, social media, pornography, and advertisements, shape the way people think about and engage with sexuality. As social media becomes more widely used and often more sexually oriented, it plays a major role in shaping a person’s sexual attitudes, expectations, and behaviours, most especially during adolescence and early adulthood, when sexual identity is just beginning. The use of psychological theories like Social Learning Theory, Cultivation Theory, and Schema Theory examines how people comprehend sexual messages seen in media. It explains how continual exposure can lead to unrealistic expectations about sex and relationships, it affects how we see or perceive our body and self-worth, and sometimes contributes to anxiety or pressure to perform sexually in specific ways. The report also looks at how the media often presents a narrow or gendered view of sexuality, reinforcing certain roles or expectations while neglecting others. By analysing both research findings and real-life examples, the paper examines how social media not just affects our idea about sex, but also how we feel about it and how we behave in relationships. The goal of these people is to understand how social media influences our perception of sex, and they need to create awareness about sex and its representation.
