Editorial Process
Editorial Process
- Author Registration
Authors create an account and register with African Gender Studies Quarterly. - Manuscript Submission
Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system. - Initial Quality Check
The editorial assistant performs a preliminary check to ensure the manuscript meets formatting and submission requirements. - Assignment to Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief reviews the manuscript to determine whether it falls within the scope of the journal and is suitable for peer review. - Evaluation by Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief assesses the manuscript’s quality and relevance. They may recommend rejection at this stage or assign the manuscript to two independent peer reviewers. The journal follows a double-blind review process, keeping authors’ and reviewers’ identities confidential. - Peer Review
Reviewers have four weeks from the date of acceptance to submit their evaluation reports. - Recommendation Based on Reviews
The Editor-in-Chief makes a recommendation regarding the manuscript based on the reviewers’ feedback. - Revisions (if required)
If revisions are requested, authors must address all comments before the manuscript progresses to the next stage. - Post-Revision Evaluation
Once the revisions are deemed satisfactory, the manuscript is accepted and moves to copy-editing for refinement. - Proofreading and Layout Editing
The manuscript undergoes final proofreading and formatting adjustments. - Final Approval
The final version of the article is sent to both the authors and the Editor for approval. - Production and Publication
After approval, the article enters production and is published in an issue of African Gender Studies Quarterly.
Authors can track the status of their manuscript at each stage of the editorial process.
