Abstract

The Fulani in Nigeria is a part of the Peul or Fula ethnic group, which has existed in some form for thousands of years in the African continent. There are millions of Fulani people in the continent
today but majority of them are found in Nigeria. Over the years, they have grown to become one of the dominant ethnic groups in Nigeria. Ironically, the contemporary times have witnessed climate change and the movement of the Fulani to other parts of Nigeria thereby setting them on the path of crisis. This study is developed using oral interviews and published secondary materials that were randomly collected from the research setting. It found that the Fulani herders at one time in history invaded the Izzi and Uzouwani communities killing their people and injuries others in their large numbers. The study recommends multidimensional peacebuilding strategies that will promote inter-group relations amongst the people.
